An investigation by Detective Eric Hollenstein found that Pranav Shah, 36 of South Plainfield, and his employees at a Hamburg Turnpike store had been selling the pods for more than $25 to students under the age of 21 from Pompton Lakes and surrounding towns, Riverdale Police said in a press release.

The sales also break a borough ordinance that bans the sale of tobacco to anyone under 21 years old, police said.

Shah was arrested Jan. 31 and charged with selling cigarettes to underage persons, pending a first appearance in municipal court this month.
